who is aaron?
Aaron Yeo is a man of media. He photographs, he writes, he composes, he entertains. He captures moments, expresses thoughts, and transports information. He uses whatever tools and mediums to convey what he feels and observes.
Currently a staff writer and photographer for The Gateway, Aaron strives to accumulate experience in the competitive and quickly evolving world of print media. Although somewhat reluctant to join in the new media movement, he is competent in using the Internet, the Interweb, and the Intertubes.
Currently attending the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, Aaron is working towards a Bachelor of Arts, with a major in Psychology and a minor in Music. He pretends that this can get him a job.
As a photographer, Aaron likes to take major events, moments in time, or pieces of scenery, and immortalize them in a grandiose yet realistic manner. He gets whatever paid work he can find. He shoots Nikon, both digital and film, but hasn't been in the darkroom for a while. Having finished a Project 365, taking a photo every day of 2010, he is now working on the 100 Strangers project.
As a writer, Aaron finds out anything and everything about anything and everything, and sums it up for his readers, whether it be on city politics or a breaking discovery in research. Occasionally he will also conjure up interviews with bands and performers of sorts and preview upcoming shows. On occasion, he'll satirically take the form of stereotypical extremists and anger his readers, enjoying the creative hatemail he receives.
As a musician, Aaron works primarily in his one-man band, being proficient on a number of instruments. Preferring to stay behind the drum kit or to strum his seven stringed guitar, he can also hold his own behind the piano and keyboard, the clarinet, and the violin. While not in possession of an amiable voice, he believes vocals should come from the heart and therefore sings his own material, to the horror of others.
